terra mineralia, museum, Freiberg, Saxony

January 8th, 2013

The enthusiasm for gemstones especially one of our children shares with the exhibitors at the terra mineralia, the mineral exhibition in the castle Freudenstein in Freiberg, Saxony. 3500 stones are exhibited in three floors. Gemstones of all sizes and colours are beautifully presented. The exhibition is arranged according to continents. Particularly for younger children it is advisable to limit the visit in advance, for example to the African and European part only. Our children ran with an audio guide and settled on some stones tell everything important. Thus, the children were very interested. As parents, we were repeatedly informed of particularly surprising stories about the gemstones. At the end of our tour the children got experiences in the experimental area. Students of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg explained and help them during different experiments.

However, we could not even visit the whole exebition, so we have to go again to Freiberg and the terra mineralia.
