Exmoor Ponycentre, Somerset, UK

March 6th, 2012

In the middle of the moor is the Exmoor Pony Center in Somerset, not far from Minehead. It was a rainy day and we passed the hills of the Exmoor when we got to the dream destination from our kids, a pony riding club.

Our girls were aware of the particularity of this horse breed: The Exmoor ponies are among the most original of the English breeds. They are very tough and durable, the ponies are humans to the friendly and have a very good jumping ability.

Exmoor Pony

Various centers in England care about the preservation of this pony breed. One of the centers is the The Moorland Mousie Trust Exmoor Pony Centre . Here the ponies are bred.

In the surroundings of Exmoor, there are several areas with wild pony herds. Also we saw this on our future trips. A wonderful experience on the hill were the galloping herds of 10 to 20 ponies.

Open Daily 10 am to 5 pm from Easter school holidays until October half term.
